Donatien Rousseau at the Bicentenary of Photography

For several months now, our colleague Donatien Rousseau has been carrying out a major photographic project in his native village of Cavagnac (Lot).

His project has now been officially accepted as part of the Bicentenaire de la photographie, an important milestone that recognizes the human and artistic significance of this long-term project.

Spanning three years (2025, 2026 and 2027), the project focuses on Cavagnac's most essential asset: its people. Through a series of portraits, Donatien Rousseau aims to capture the soul of the village, the faces and stories that weave its identity. Two exhibitions, in two phases, will mark out this journey, bearing witness to a patient and sincere commitment.

All the works will be exhibited at the Cavagnac library, in a space of culture and memory. The prints will be mounted in American crates, for a sober, elegant and durable presentation.

A catalog will accompany the project, providing a printed record of this collective adventure, at the crossroads of documentary, portraiture and social bonding.

Donatien Rousseau has already embarked on this long project with sensitivity, in a spirit of closeness and respect. He sees this project as a vibrant tribute to his village and to those who are its living soul.
